The Boyds Negro Schoolhouse in rural Boyds, MD is a historically restored one-room school, a vestige of the days of segregation in Montgomery County. Concerts in the Country co-directors Marianne Ross and Ric Wagner, Steven Lubar,a Smithsonian Institution historian, in collaboration with members of the "White Ground" community, several of whom had been students at the school before its 1936 closing, mounted an exhibit of photographs, documents, and other artifacts. The schoolhouse is now a community and educational resource center: A video documentary is available.
